Belt slippage is one of the main reasons your Gen 1 Supercharged MINI looses performance as time goes on. The supercharger is driven by the one drive belt.  If the tension on the belt is lost then the supercharger is not running at the speed it should and manimium boost pressure is not attained. If you are adding a M7 Overdrive pulley kit or just changing out your drive belt consider replacing the belt tensioner for optium peak performance.

Serpentine belt drives consist of a single belt that powers the Spercharger and all of the engine’s accessories on you Gen 1 MINI. Designed to maintain constant tension on serpentine belt drive, the Dayco Automatic Belt Tensioner features the OE design but with improved components and materials. Engineered to provide less operating range variations in tension for peak performance from your supercharger.
